Can't say how the EU morning is, but I have seen several promos run in the EU evening (18:00 - 24:00 GMT). You could try that?
@Somer staff:
I find the user statistics a little bit unfortunately constructed.
- First you have "Blinks played", which includes regular and megablinks, but not promos (which have their own statistic).
- Then you have "Blinks won", which includes regular and promo blinks, but not megablinks (which have their own statistic).
- Finally, you have "Win ratio", which includes all three types of blinks, but is only contrasted with the "Blinks played" count. The "Promo Blinks played" count is not factored in, and therefore, you could potentially achieve a win ratio of greater than 100% by winning lots of promos.
This setup makes for a very confusing statistic in which every line of the table needs to be read in a different context. I would suggest that you either keep the three blink types strictly apart (my preference), or combine them (less work).
Not to mention the "Value of Blinks won" statistic, which as I was told is still displaying wrong numbers

Edited by: Ishina Fel on 14/04/2011 09:37:47 Just a minor suggestion regarding butan trivias...
I have noticed that the payout for a correct answer is at least 2 million and at most 50 million per person. Now, the last five trivias posted had the following payout values:
2.00 million 4.57 million 2.22 million 2.79 million 2.00 million
This seems an awful lot like it's constantly hugging the lower edge, no? Twice defaulted to minimum, another two times barely inches away from defaulting again, and even the highest payout is less than 10% of the theoretical maximum. Considering you give away multiple billion ISK in promos every day, it seems a bit disproportionate that the roughly once-a-week butan trivia (which is arguably harder than just buying into a promo) would be paying out such a novelty prize.
I think it is partly due to the fact that nowadays, a lot more people play blink than when the trivia was instated, and therefore, a lot more people get the answer right and need a share of the pot.
Suggestions: - You could run one or two promos less per week (nobody will even notice), and post the butan trivia with a much higher starting pot instead of the current 400-some million. Or whatever other figure makes sense in your internal balance. - Also (or alternatively), you could significantly up the bonus per blink completed during the butan uptime. That way the prize pot is augmented more steeply, somewhat counterbalancing the increasing number of correct answers over time.
Benefits for the player: - Makes the butan trivia more exciting! - More free credit to blink with!
Benefits for Somer.blink: - A promo won is paid out physically. The prize and its value is gone from your system. However, the butan trivia payout is in blink credit, therefore the entire pot stays in the system, and people will use it to play more blinks!

Going to bed now. When I get up tomorrow, you'll probably have passed 30T already. Don't you dare start the party without me! - Signature? What signature? |

Congrats all lucky winners!
I didn't win anything at all despite participating in dozens of promos and all the bonks. Oh well... Maybe at 40T!

Edited by: Ishina Fel on 12/05/2011 11:51:45 Bug Report:
When promos are posted in a queue, the time each promo takes to complete is displayed wrong on the "view past promo.blinks" page. Instead of showing how long a promo lasted, it will show how long the queue lasted up to that point.
Example: today around noon local time, a queue of one of each strategic cruiser was posted. Due to being well away from primetime (and in fact, around downtime), these each lasted a good long time... maybe an hour each.
However, the "view past promo.blinks" page displays the following: Legion --> 03:52:42 Proteus --> 03:09:19 Loki --> 02:22:26 Tengu --> 01:01:10
...This would total around 10.5 hours for four promos? Hardly! The queue itself lasted the 3 hours 52 minutes; each item merely shows the (at the time of its completion) current lifetime of the total queue.
Hope this helps!

I have utterly terrible luck with regular blinks - I only won 240 million from an input of 1.15 billion, and nothing larger than a frigate.
Despite that, I am now up to 1.35 billion total winnings. 200 million profit! Woo hoo! I love promo.blinks - Signature? What signature? |

I'd like to inquire how the latest dev blog will affect SOMER.blink...
Since it is a third party service that requires ingame cash to be sent in order to be allowed to play, this essentially means that SOMER.blink must now puarchase a $99 per year commercial license from CCP in order to keep running.

My experience is the opposite.
I was constantly in the minus until after roughly 2 months, I started making a profit thanks to promo.blinks.

Originally by: Goodluvins If you do any research on this, you'll consistantly see that a LOT of the time, one person who 'buys' half of the tickets win on major lottos. Although occasionally some people may win something here and there, it isn't hard to formulate a guess at who makes alts and 'bids' on their own lottos further reducing the chance to win by 50% or more
If you do any research on this, you'll see that even if a person buys all the tickets and therefore wins 100% of the time, they are making a loss.
The value of an item is roughly the cost of 6 tickets. If you buy 8 tickets, you are in the minus by the value of 2 tickets. That is the cut the house makes. And it is, by the way, nothing unusual - any lottery is always rigged so that the house makes a profit. Otherwise the lottery could not be maintained, and its staff could not be paid.
Large parts of the profits are poured into giveaways, promotions, bonus credit and special events. Participating in these things is what will give you your best chance to come out with a profit.

Originally by: Brantus Wrong. If you buy 8 tickets and win you still make a profit. You start taking a loss in the neighborhood of 10 tickets on mega blinks and 5-6 tickets on the regular blinks.
At which point was I ever talking about mega blinks?

We've radically increased the amount of stuff to win with this one, and there are at least 3 prizes that I personally would kick a baby in the face to have myself. Get in now, people - you will not forgive yourself for missing this one!
Will some of the special prizes require buying tickets for ISK again, like on the 40T celebration? Or will you use exclusively promo tokens, like in many past celebrations?
Because I want to make sure I have enough 'resources' to participate with... ;)

Note that, in your 50T frenzy, you forgot something...
The GTC bbuying bonus banner advertises 75m bonus; however, when you actually click on the Claim GTC Credit link below it, the claiming page still advertises the 4-for-100 deal from before the celebration. Might confuse some people. ;)

The celebration is a multi-day event. I've already caught more promos today than in the last week, and that even though it is the European morning before downtime, the usually least active time of day for Blink. I should know, I am European and have the page open at work every day
So no, you haven't missed much yet - but if you go sit in a corner and pout for the next 3-4 days, THEN you will miss it.

You misunderstood the policy in that regard. "active blinks on the board" in this case means the number of simultaneous lotteries going. I.e. one Harpy, one Wolf, one Raptor, one Megathron, one Navy Hookbill and one Manticore. That is 6 active blinks.
There is no rule governing how many tickets one player may buy on a single blink (with the exception of promos, which are limited to 1 ticket per player). If someone wants to buy all 8 tickets on a normal blink, they are free to do so - and they are in fact cheating themselves out of ISK, since the actual value of most items is roughly equal to 6 tickets.
A guy who buys all 8 tickets might do it for achievement hunting, or to fabricate an artificially inflated Win Ratio, but he's essentially buying an item for 30% above Jita price everytime he does it. Not a very good deal, if you ask me.
